Lifelong friendships can be discovered around the corner, at the store or in a museum, but not when we are socially isolated. Aside from the sense of community and the enjoyment of a shared interest, participating in clubs can provide an opportunity for skill development. As a youth, many have the benefit of participating in after-school activities, sports teams and/or clubs that can enhance and encourage the development of social and communication skills. The skills learned in these clubs can be extremely valuable not only while working with peers, but also when seeking employment.
Club activities incorporate social and communication skills that include: basic social etiquette, turn-taking, requesting info/objects, answering/asking questions, responding to greetings, following directions, recognizing social cues, problem-solving, maintaining a topic, and emotional expression.
As our members continue to develop, they may need ongoing support with new challenges as they continue to learning, develop relationships, while being exposed to social opportunities to become independent and confident adults.
Joining a club can provide adults with a sense of community and belonging. By participating in these activities, participants can meet new people who share their interests and hobbies, and form new friendships that can last a lifetime. We have found great success in group interactions as it provides a naturalistic environment to experience social development and present opportunity to gain social knowledge.
Communication Skills
As you engage in discussions, or even casual conversations, you sharpen your ability to convey ideas and understand others.
Time Management
Balancing club activities with personal responsibilities forces you to become adept at managing your time.
Teamwork
Being part of a sports team or an academic club, teamwork is often essential for club activities.
Technical Skills
The step-by-step skills needed to complete a work-related task or duty.
Artistic Skills

Financial Literacy
Daily financial transactions performed in the community and financial responsibilities.
Groups will meet weekly and will incorporate experiences to improve relationships, social skills development, self-esteem, job skills and much more!
Some adults with social challenges can find the community and accessing group events extremely difficult to embrace. At Club Adapt, we arrange our groups according to the general level of ability rather than their chronological age. If the club has an opening in a group that is a good fit, we will invite him/her to participate. If the club feels there is not currently a group that will be a productive learning-match, we may recommend individual skill-building sessions. We want everyone seeking services to receive appropriate services.
